I too hope it will be a good day Les.  It is now much better (for us) being a 1 day show.
After that, there is only 1 more show we attend in 2018.  SELWG.

Hi Martin,
I have just put in my order for Colours. Unfortunately I also wanted an ACW 2 horse standing limber forage cap, but it kept appearing on the cart as a four horse Confederate limber. I HAVE successfully ordered the 2 horse standing limber with hat. Can I pick up a pack of the forage cap version at Colours. Looking forward to seeing you there,
Andy Fuller

Andy you need to email Nigel in the Peter Pig Workshop, he will be preparing the orders for Colours.

Looking forward to the show.
Think the last time I was there it was called Armageddon and was picketed by CND.... :o

So it must have been at the Hexagon and Civic offices with the outdoor display in the Mayors garden.

Looks like Colours is going to be chaotic again this year. Just looked at the web site, traders are there but most of the other information is either not there or 2017 info.

Check the web site for the entrances to the show, they have been changed with a new entrance having been created from with the town.

There are no building plans showing where stands or games are going.

The Bring and Buy is still last years so the two queue will be a none sense, also have a check to see what they are allowing and disallowing to be sold on the B and B.  The list is quite long.

Looks like a bit of chaos coming up!!!

Thanks for the warning, Les.

It seems as though 2 entrances (car parks 1 and 4, although you can't get from one to the other) are available (unless you're a trader, who all have to use car park 4): https://nrwc.org.uk/colours-2018

The "will be updated nearer the time" (how close do we need to get?!) indications regarding both demo games and show guide are indeed a little worrying!

I thought Colours was very good yesterday. The more direct access to car park 4 (now with hard-standing and landscaping, rather than just a grass field) for the general public worked well and the entrance queue was processed rapidly.

The ground floor was pretty dark (as usual) and quickly filled up with punters browsing a wide range of vendors' stands. A top tip is to get there for 10:00 and whiz round quickly before ascending to the higher levels.

The top two floors were much lighter and spacious: it was also nice to be able to step outside for fresh air on the terraces.

There was the usual range of traders, who helped me realise that there were so many things I didn't know I needed until I saw them (including a rather nice spraying booth - glad I travelled by car...) .

The demo games were of a high standard. There was a splendid (and huge) WW1 desert game with fort and lovely German encampment (plus several large biplanes). I joined in a game of Tanks - scaled up for 28mm - in which 4 participants with a T34 apiece had to destroy the lone German Tiger in as fast a time as possible (a stopwatch was running). All good, simple fun.

Leman's Samurai game (using Osprey's Ronin rules) was small but perfectly formed, with some really lovely scenery and figures.

While there weren't that many 15mm games, the Peter Pig stand seemed to be doing a roaring trade. I had to make a couple of attempts to queue up to collect my order due to the crush of punters who clearly couldn't wait to get their hands on Martin's latest sculpts.

I ate lunch with a group from Kent, who had just bought some PP WW2 Germans (with one wanting also German horse-drawn limbers - it seems no-one does these in 15mm). They were also arting to get tempted by the new Western rules, for which Rob was doing a sterling job with participation games on a nice layout featuring Martin's Indian tepees.

I hope business was good for Peter Pig, and that Martin, Nigel and Rob had a good trip back down South.

A couple of pictures of Rob's Western participation game yesterday:

I hope everyone had a good day at colours.  Good to see fellow forum embers on the  day.  Thank you for popping over!

martin goddard

Very good pictures Simon!   Thanks. Done with a phone?

Colonel Kilgore

Thanks Martin. And yes, it's the same 4-year-old phone: better than I can do with a proper camera.

Leslie BT

Thanks for posting the excellent pictures of Martin game this year at colours.
