All those interested have the new figure amounts in their 'hand" so to speak.

At the distinct risk of splitting hairs, I believe we have the number of bases in the new draft rules, but not the number of figures...?

Any thoughts on whether this is a 2, 3 (or even 5?!) figures per base set, please?

Well I have based 270 Pirates & guns so if I don't use 90% of them then the new rules are not complete

Good question. I am not sure. How about 2-3 for a fighting base ( a normal 3x3 or 2p base)and single for officers (no idea  on base...1p).  that does not hep but I am aware of te dangers of being to fixed too young?

Stewart. That is a big landing party/away team.  Should overcome the port scum easily?

Tell us about your mat. Dimensions in hexes?

So I guess the question is: how have you based yours, Stewart?

I like the 2-3 / base + officers as singles idea - sounds very much as though we're going for a similar feel as in Western? Would mean that those folks who already have forces can use them, while newbies can go for the 2 per 2p coin concept and get up and running faster.

I like lots of figure so as the play test progresses those Pirates that don't measure up end up in the sales line and I am left with a core of successful veteran Pirates.

My mat is a nice blue (like my eyes) with complete  9 x 16 , 6 sided squares 4" side to side.

Getting my mat ordered, thanks to Stewart for negotiating a great discount.

We are still on 5 x 3 with 100 mm hex overlay?

martin goddard

I think it is now on tablets on stone.  4' flat to flat hexes and a 5x3 table. The 5x3 is for convenience. It should fit on most table tops(?). Also 5x3 can reached across whilst sitting. I would not regularly play a game that needed bigger than 6x4 with my current living area status.
The hexes could have been experimented with more but the distances move seem satisfying (?). The shooting looks fine too (?)

I was thinking that the mat should be cut so that only full hexes are present?  Messy but gives clarity.  Orientation is another thought.  Matt commented on this. Maybe the game should flow fro corner to corner instead of end to end .  I like that idea much.

The 1/2 hexes do give more playing area

Thanks for the price Stewart, one for Ralph and one for me is on order.
