Help! My AI is making up its own PIB rules

Hi everyone! I'm diving back into the PIB 2025 rules and using an AI (NotebookLM) to help clear up some doubts. However, instead of answering my questions, it's actually creating more confusion! 😅

According to the AI's interpretation of the manual, when APs are assigned to a square, those points must be shared among all bases within that square. For example, if I have 2 bases in a square and I'm assigned 2 APs, the AI suggests I could move one base and fire with the other (consuming both APs).

My interpretation has always been that each base in that square receives the full amount of APs. In the same scenario, I thought I could move one base twice AND fire twice with the other.

Which of these two interpretations is correct?

Hi Pablo
Yes, each base gets the full AP to use as individual,

the exceptions are
Removing casualties
Removing pinning
All bases contribute

A good example of AI and large language models not quite being able to grasp what is asked of it.

Stewart has it right. Each base may act independently with it's AP. There are a couple of examples of where the whole swuare has to pay for an action, such as removing a casualty. Removing a casualty is 2AP. For example, if you roll 4AP for a square and you want to remove a casualty, its costs 2AP, leaving you 2AP to spend on actions. Each base in the square can then spend it's 2AP independently. So they can all shoot, all move, or some move and some shoot.

Hope that helps!

Does show the good and bad side of AI in one fell swoop ?
Must admit next Saturday could do with an AI chip in me to remind me how to play PBI ?
Playing AK and PiTS is so much different from PBI, it should be interesting to see what rule set my mind will be playing with ? lol

This is often the case Miles. Even whilst playing Civil War Battles last week, which is an entirely different game to ore modern Peter Pig rules, I found myself wondering whether I was getting things wrong based on games like AK47, Mexico or even Conquerors and Kings  ;D

Be mindful that unless protected (as an organisation or school) Gemini (behind NLM) is acting an 'enterprise LLM' so uploading a PDF means that everyone has access to the rules (via Gemini)
