Hi chaps,

a while ago I enquired after the PBI Black Boxes which, sadly, are no longer available.  Mention was made however of the Platoon packs.
Are these still available?  'Fraid i can't find them on the PP website. :-\
If they are there, could someone point me in the right direction please.
Many thanks in advance.
Best,

Stephen

Hello Stephen

sadly they are no longer available.  the three major reasons  are
1. Gamers often wanted to change the contents "i like the man advancing more than the one standing". "Could you knock out the light mortar and credit me with the difference?"
2. Takes time to visit 6+ bins for castings (say 15 minutes). Most packs did not sell in quantity. Therefore no multiple time savings.  Lot of work for a £7/13  product.  Think about what your own hourly pay is and divide by 4 to see how much labour is needed per platoon pack.   Then folk would often ask for a discount "seeing as i am buying a whole platoon"
3. Taking individual figures from casting runs upsets the proportion available for the normal packs. Thus figures have to be melted down. Moulds are made to furnish the contents of standard packs.

Do be re-assured that if such packs were profitable they would still be there. We kept them going for 11 years. We made little or no profit from them.

If you want to know what was in the packs they are still listed so you can use it to order from the standard packs that are available on the PP web site.

Many thanks for explaining. I quite understand. I'll just look through the lists and pick and choose. In any case this is always one of the most enjoyable parts of the hobby....planning, thinking, ordering.....

Leslie.
Thanks also for the pointer to the website. I'm on it!!
BTW are you still based on Normandy?

The Crisis show looms but I'll look forward to seeing the PP GANG AT Salute.
Best.
