Here are the zebras in action.
I have put them in groups of 54. With a three and three singles to make the 36.

These are the etched version.

Colonel Kilgore

Very nice, Martin, and something quite different for AK47.

Simon

Moggy

I love the Zebras Martin. The wife had a giggle and wanted to know when you were going to include ostriches. She wants to see ostrich cavalry!.

Derek

Derek, that would be nice.
I have used Zebras as "instant" information.
When a gamer walks past a table with Zebras on it, they instantly understand it is an African game. In addition Zebras are very prominent.

I used the same  thinking with the Greek temple for the ancients range. Instant recognition. It does work.

In historical games at shows a single feature transmits a lot of instant information.

Vietnam = Huey
ACW= Cemetery gates
ECW= English church
WW1= ruined buildings
Egyptians= pyramid
Napoleonics= French farmhouse
Colonial= paddle steamer

Others?

I realise the comment was in jest Derek, but Ostriches would be  very difficult/impossible to cast, the legs are too thin;  would not be "instant" and Ostrich cavalry would not be in AK. Same fr flamingos and gnu. I did consider gazelles but the same problems arose. Hippos are good but need a water feature to look at its best?

Colonel Kilgore

A big ship for Pirates (land)?

Simon

Moggy

How about some Rhino or elephants then, can be another objective. Stop those poachers of mythical medicine from getting there hands on them.  Could be a whole scenario based on that. Random factor the stampede in random directions!. Could attract a whole new customer base.

Derek

martin goddard

Yes pirates= ship.

Animals in AK , absolutely Derek.

Smoking gun

WW2 a Tiger tank.

Martin, from a village near Grimsby.

martin goddard

Agreed. Stick a Tiger on the table = WW2.

I love your dazzle of zebra and am sorely tempted to get some, even though they never strayed into desert areas. I guess I can always imagine some savannah somewhere on the Senemalese border for them to play in...

All I would say in defence of gazelle as a possibility is you could sculpt a resin group since they do cluster pretty close together for protection if threatened. That way they would be mutually supported without the risk of brittle or miscast legs - like your strip of cast chickens, Martin.

Either that or you could even model some gazelle sitting down
