Here they come and pinning?

As I understand it, when an attacker spends his 3/4 ap to assault the defender gets to fire "here they come" shooting. This is Either 1 or 2 ap worth.

What happens to the assault of the defender hits and converts a hit into a pinned?

A) is the assault stopped dead, as the attacker can't move into the target square? And the ap spent are lost!
B) does it continue but the attacker is pinned next turn?
C) you are not allowed to use pinning for here they come fire?
D) something else?(what?)

Thanks

I don't believe you can pin unless it's paid-for shooting, but certainly worth clarifying if that's not explicit in the rules!

All reactive shooting can only create kills not pinned.
"Paid for" shooting can create pinned results.

This means the assaulters can shoot, create a pinned result and then assault.
The passive player can opportunity, return shoot and here they come shoot.

Hope that is useful.

Cheers for clarifying its just that on p97 of current rules says "Any and all hits can be traded for a chance at 5,6 =pinned" so that's not clear.

Managed to use the rules for several years without this being an issue, but there is always a first time!

Can't see any rule that would prevent those from opportunity/reactive or HTC fire being a an exception but happy to added it to my notes/errata.

You are right Graham.
That is the problem when we all assume it is there and it is not. :-[
