I was browsing the internet today about shore batteries in WW2.

The Merville battery looks as if there are no actual guns there anymore. They have built  a nice new museum building though.

Has anyone been there in the last couple of years?  Are the guns still there?
The internet pictures are not that good.

Are they being repaired or scrapped?

Well, that is bad. Where do we think they are?

Probably a museum or scrap ? How badly damaged were they in the raid ?
Plus looking at the casements they look sealed, which seems to be a common thing with a lot of the concrete bunkers ! Health and safety gone mad probably!

They used to be fine. They were rusty.
One gun was stuck in depression and one had part of the shield missing. I think the other two were fine to climb all over. I believe at least one turret is needed to give a good insight into what the site was like in the war.
