Hello all!

I have recently bought a copy of the rules.
I have a bunch of zulus that I would like to paint and use and I was wondering if there is any adaptation of the rules for playing zulu wars.

Thank you!  ;D

Not that I know of, but it's not the hardest thing to do, we even worked out you could play Cowboys and Indians with the rules. As PITS just sets up scenarios for the "Empire (imperial)forces" up against "Local Tribes"
No insults to the indigenous people of whatever country you set t it up in ? But just setting up the main game is set in Sudan but wouldn't take too much to adapt it to other regions and situations of the late 1800's across the world. The Templates to suit where you want to "Play" the wording on the Cards to suit/substituted for the 2 sides used.

I think the problem with that is the style of combat used by the "locals".

The Zulu was all up for massed battles not the skirmish/patrol type affair of PITS.  All depend on which side of the Zulu wars you wish to fight Nake.

Islandlwana was 20,000 Zulus attacking around 2000 European and natal troops. Rourkes drift was 3-4,000 Zulu attacking 150 Redcoats. Later battles such as Ulundi had the number switched round and the British fought with overwhelming numbers, Gatlin guns and much artillery (very unfair).

I have tried a number of systems now for gaming the Zulu Wars and found none of them really work well. The best I recall as "The men who would be kings" by Osprey. This is a ruleset designed to play a more technological side with smaller numbers against a larger inferior force. Yet again it isnt really set up for large scale battles but if thats your desire I would possibly suggest Black Powder and the Zulu supplement. I am not a fan of Black powder rules but it does work.

Hope this is helpful.

He who has the biggest stick usually wins. I think, "No, no old chap, you fire first," went out with the close of the C18th.

Thank you all for your answers!  ;D

I will take a look at the "The men who would be kings" rulebook.

Its quite cheap comparitively and has some great concepts in it.
