We tried the siege game out at Burton recently, using the example armies on p82 of the rules. Simon had more toys so agreed to attack with his Royalists against my force of Covenanters and Parliamentarians (outskirts of York 1644?).
As Simon has noted elsewhere we already have painted armies for FoGR so use these units on a 6' x 5' table with 8" squares. For example a FoGR 2 Pike & 4 Shot unit gives us 6 half-bases on a 40x120 sabot. Here are the armies deployed after the defences have taken a pounding.

Note that of the 7 markers on the outer defences those on the western corner suffered most - just where the main royalist attack is about to land!

I had bolstered that section with some veteran foot but, with three units now off-table, death rolls took a toll on the target square with one Scots unit being down to = 2 bases.

Supported by a large artillery park, Simon's tightly packed Mikes Models advanced steadily against my similarly "old-school" strip Minifigs defending the now vulnerable corner.

The corner crumbled! Despite heavy losses amongst supporting troops to their left, the little Mike's chappies, supported by renegade Spanish mercenaries and led by an "Attack" General were in on my flank.

Despite not being quite finished my newly-painted breach parties (lent to Simon!) did sterling work in reducing sections of already damaged defence to the minimum 4 strength

The Covenanter reinforcements did arrive but via the Eastern road so could they not influence the result. Time pressure did not allow us to sort out proper victory points but I raised the white flag and surrendered the Manor House to save further bloodshed. I was good to play something different.

Good looking game, and the first siege game I've seen.

it was interesting and I'd give it another go. As the attacker you seemed to get one chance for glory. But with only 4 turns then your probably wouldn't any time to mount a second attack

It doesn't have the buttock clenching cavalry melee - someones wing is likely to get completely destroyed moment, that is my favourite in the other variant!  8)
