HI guys,

Wasn't quite sure where to place this one but......

I have mentioned before about lack of space to game at home severely limiting the amount of gaming I can fit in.  Had an idea a while ago about going vertical on a magnetic white board and.....   Yep, actually done something about it.

A few false starts like finding the right thickness cloth so possibly 2 layers of magnets will stick. Basing material for the troops, all the usual sorts of stuff but got there I think.

Working on 2 forces for AK47 to start with so I can figure out the rules etc. Not got all terrain and troops cut out, magnetised etc but enough to show what it will look like

Terrain is freely available ariel photography of the area (hit Botswana and head inland) stuck direct onto magnetised sheets. Top-down units/vehicles/troops freely available from https://juniorgeneral.org/index.php/figure/figureList/topdowns#91 (huge range of top down stuff available for all periods) mounted onto spongeboard. I will be colouring the sides of units into red/blue force in time.

As for scale I have dropped inches into cm so a 30 x 30 bases become 1 x 1 cm. Total play area of 6 x 3 foot becomes 72 x 36cm  Keeping all inch units in cm makes understanding the rules much easier.

Doesn't mean I am giving up miniatures. Just fed up never being able to game at home due to lack of space/dinner/pets/visitors.   ;D

When I get it together enough will do a solo battle report.

Cheers

Derek

I am thinking of doing more templates that way. How about a template for

or

Tempting targets or what?

Why are you wanting to bomb a Butlins Holiday Camp under construction?

Isn't that what they look like post-construction?  ;D

The song Everyday is Like Sunday by the master of misery Morrissey, was written about Butlins by the sea side. It had the the immortal line

"Come, come, come, nuclear bomb."

A bit harsh, but having spent a wet week at Butlins once, I can sympathise with the sentiment.

... And well done Moggy. Brilliant idea. I imagine you could almost play it on your lap in front of the TV. A bit like the PBI player using Squad Leader counters.

Strangely enough that was my entry into gaming. Many Avalon Hill and STI products.

That's what brought the idea back into my mind.

First go at putting together what I have done so far.

1 x randomly determined gamer area. (yep 2 x double space terrain pieces)

My current exile force on the map. (just wanted to check if the size markers overloaded the map area).

The vehicles and troops around the outside are what I have done for 1 side not currently being used. Tried to cover most eventualities. The will soon be placed into a storage box until required and then I can start cutting, magnetising and colouring the edges of side 2.
