Although guns are bad things I am sure we can discuss them here.

Here is the thought.
If you were the main inventor (assault weapons) would you be more pleased with the

1. German stg 44 assault rifle,
2. AK 47 or
3. M16.
4. FN FAL rifle

You can make the choice using any criteria you wish.
e.g "it looks really good"

There is no definitive answer gents

AK47 hands down. It's a design classic. It's even on a national flag. Also the inspiration for one of the best Duffelblog articles:

StG 44 - it looks cool and led to the development of a new class of weapon (including the AK47 / AK74).

Interesting question...  a bit all over the map on the why.

I am going to go with an FN.... have used them...they shoot straight & if you ever get close they make a heck if a club.

AK 47... good weapon...tends to cause user (unless well trained) to shoot on auto & maybe waste a lot more ammo.
Gun on auto tends to pull up & to the right on full auto. Gun is incredibly reliable though.

Stg44... don't know much about them, supposed to be very accurate but has (i think) a sideways magazine.

M16.. Never used one but they are so light it just doesn't feel right... light bullet if fighting in built up areas Have heard not great in desert/dust or mud by all accounts.  Make a lousy close in club...or after the first swing. Though the folks using them problably love them on the back end of a 10/20 mile hike.

AK47 - Easy to clean.

I do like the FN, but think I would go for the very lightest gun to carry. M16? Like the carry handle too.
