The telegraph (as in the wires that travel from pole to pole over big distances, not the newspapaper) was used a lot during the mexrev.
The telegraph poles often ran alongside the railway.
Sometimes the telegraph would often be left operational during battles.
This  allowed communication as the battle was underway.

Just interesting background.

Telegraph poles could look good on the tabletop?

Members might wish to watch the classic silent movie( ???)

Across the Mexican line (1911)
Alice Guy directs an espionage romance set and made during the start of the Mexican Revolution. Frances Gibson plays a Mexican woman sent to spy on an American military officer. Will love conquer politics?

Good guys are the US cavalry. Bad guys are the Mexicans.

I think the telegraph poles would be simple wooden pole uprights and a single or twin cross piece?
I have not looked into it but it would make a nice pack for sudan/western/RCW/mexrev games?

Should be easy Simon.
Do they need them on Crete?

Martin,

I think Crete was characterised by abysmal communications on both sides, so I don't think phones could have been much used in practice during the campaign.

However, they must have had the phone on the island, and some poles along the roads would look pretty good I think.

Probably enough to make the case to move into production?
