More new stuff using some of the newly released Union Generals.  Pickett's Charge Cavalry Brigadier, 16th, 9th & 32nd Massachusetts, 14th New York regiments unit Command Stands

Cavalry Brigadier uses the new ADC and Mtd Standard Bearer from Union Generals packs.  16th & 9th MA use new Union General castings Butler & Reynolds respectively.

My 15mm ACW collection now runs to well over 3,000 figs with more being added on a regular basis.  I'm at the stage now where, apart from gaming 'fluff', I just add new unit command stands to change unit IDs.

More soon.

Superb work !

I like very much the way you paint your ACW figures and organize them on their bases...

It really looks terrific !!

New stuff Peter Pig stuff for Pickett's Charge (sorry  ;D)

44th New York (aka Ellsworth's Avengers)

This Elite regiment wore an americanized zouave uniform which consisted of a dark blue zouave jacket with red piping on the cuffs, dark blue trousers with a red stripe, a red zouave shirt, a dark blue forage cap, and a pair of leather gaiters. The jacket had buttons down the front of it which was not part of the original French zouave uniform.  I've chosen to portray this as having a mixed uniform.  The gaiters have been discarded in favour of more comfortable socks, and several figures wear sack coats.

10th New York (National Zouaves)

I've depicted these wearing the brown Zouave jacket that they wore during the Seven Days and Second Bull Run campaigns of mid 1862.  It was replaced in September 1862 with dark blue. Numerous head swaps using head packs 19. Bare head, 24. Fez Egyptians, 73. ACW Zouave turban, 94. Italian fascist cap, 115. Bandaged heads & 117. Bandana for lots of variety.

Union Brigadiers

Using the recently released Union General Grant and Thomas packs.  The Grant pose I've painted as General Thomas Francis Meagher (Pronounced Marr).  Meagher was commander of the famous Irish Brigade, and during the Seven Days campaign in 1862 wore a green velvet uniform and a straw hat with a dark green feather.  I made the feather from a very small bit of Woodland Scenics clump foliage.  The accompanying officers are ADC from the Generals personality packs but with Forage Cap headswaps fro head pack 67.

Cheers Kev.

They look terrific Kev. Again, lots of inspiration. Just in the process myself of making a Union western frock coated regiment with a number of ECW headswaps for real variety.

Colonel Kilgore

Very nice as ever, Kev. I do like the Leprechaun General in particular!

They do look rather good. Almost tempted to paint regiment after regiment in almost identical uniforms. But then I remember the Austrians, Russians and Prussians waiting in the Napoleonic queue.

Very good, I will be painting Meagher hopefully I need a general for my Irish brigade, will be doing a Picketts Charge  game soon also.

February 1864 saw 155th Pennsylvania Regiment issued with Zouave uniforms, in time for the Overland Campaign.   They wore a 'French Blue' uniform contrasting with the 'Dark Blue' of the 140th NY and the 'Sky Blue' of the 146th NY Zouave units which they were brigaded with.

My usual Federal blue is Citadel Kantor Blue base with Vallejo Prussian Blue highlight or Citadel Macragge Blue highlights.  I wanted them to look slightly different to my usual Federal blue troops.

For 155th I used Citadel Macragge Blue base and Vallejo Dark Blue highlights.  Due to the camera flash this looks much, much brighter than it actually does on the tabletop.  The difference in actuality is noticeable but certainly not as gaudy as these figures look.

All four Peter Pig Zouave packs used. Numerous head swaps using head packs 73. ACW Zouave turban, 94. Italian fascist cap, & 15. Bandaged heads for variety.

Colonel Kilgore

Kev,
These are, as usual, lovely. You've depressed me for the weekend as I return to painting lots of German Field Grey...
But thanks for sharing ;)

Last unit of Zouaves planned for my Federals.  140th New York.

140th only received their Zouave uniforms in January 1864 and saw heavy losses during Grant's Overland Campaign.

Head swaps include head packs 94. Italian fascist cap, 115. Bandaged heads & 117. Bandana.
