Smoke. fire and explosion

Has anyone tried "polyester staple fibre". It comes in various colours. I have some orange stuff to use when ships are on fire in POE.

Currently use GF9 plastic markers, which sound naff but actually look quite good on the table. I think some are evident in my Walter Schnaffs photos.

I assume you mean on the table to represent explosions and fire as opposed to actual substance to burn in a fire as I am imagining all manner of acrid smoke!🤔
Have to say I have not,I have tended to go down the solid sculpted explosions myself when using anything at all.
