I'm looking for a new mat, does any one do simple felt and flock mats anymore?  I made a home made version but the felt has pulled out of shape.

If I stick to 6" squares, hopefully it will meet most rule sets.

I think printed mats have replaced the flock types. The flock ones would often cack when folded and stored.
My personal recommendation is for GEEK  villain mats. They are superb. The colour is good, the pattern is non repeated and they wear well. A good investment. I have 10 or so.
The Deep Cut ones are good too.
Tiny mats has sunk.

I agree with the above. My DeepCut cloth 5x3 in 6" grids has worked well for me for the last 15 or so years - no fraying and no going out of shape. My Geek Villain mats have the added advantage of being able to create hills without having to have separate hills made or bought.

As you can see, from this brilliant photo, posted from flikr using a method I spent two hours working out last night to successfully post photos to the Baccus site, the DeepCut mat still looks great, and has been washed a couple of times.

My sarcasm destroyed by some Peter Pig magic that converts the equation into a picture when you press post. Who knew!

I have both the green- and sand-coloured varieties, and they seem decent.
