Comic Con weymouth. 25th March 2018.  Redland sports centre, All day Sunday.
I am suggesting that we take a game along to see if there is interest from these comic con gamers in getting involved with historical (not 28mm skirmish) gaming.  It might be  major source of new gamers who have not tried historical gaming yet?

My initial thoughts are a Hammerin Iron game. I thought this might be good because players can do a 1 ship v 1 ship, right u to a 5 ship experience. Additionally it looks nice (I think) and the concept of ship v ship is pretty intuitive tactically easy to grasp.

So the main aim is  as a recruitment  drive for wargaming.

Because I can provide tables for the gane i think theorganisers are fudig it easier to get us in.

These  are the question(s)

1. Would you like to come along and play Hammerin iron for the day.
2. Is there another game you can bring along and play, (your choice of course) thus increasing it from 1 game two, three four miniature games etc??

Great event. No new members resulted. Shame.

Big Mike

If am around I am happy to put on a a quick play demo game at ComiCon in 2019. "The 10 minute Wargame" idea is a few bases in play with good scenery and models to support the look of the game.
Printed handouts at the door inviting people to come, parents to accompany children, etc.
Maybe a points score table to have a winner for the day....

I have contacted Lisa Clarke the organiser and she confirmed the date is Sunday 24/3 for the 2019 event and we are very welcome to put on some games again. I suggest we look at this again 1st week of January to decide if we are attending.

Thanks Mike.

And on the Calendar too, now I've worked out how to easily do that proactively  :)

Thanks for bringing it up Mike.
I thought the event was good in terms of table space (plenty), refreshments (good) and attendees (seemed bright and interested).  The downside is that for all the  handouts etc there was zero take up. Plenty of interest, but no follow through.

The only people i can think of whom might attend would be Mike(you), Duncan and martin (me). Darryl and Graeme might do a game? they have lots of the popular game stuff like Xwing and warhammer.

As a recruitment event, I think it has no potential.
Nice for a day out for gaming though.

If you and Duncan are happy to do a game, that would be good.
If you need some club funds for expenses then that can be arranged too.

Good luck

Mike I would be happy to run a game but I can't even confirm attendance at CWB (3rd Nov) never mind March next year due to work commitments. I would probably run a Hamerin Iron game, nice ship lots of dice and chance to sink a ship or two
