I spent today and yesterday making my Carolingians ready for Saturdays CK battle day.

This is what I did.

1. Peeled off some figures where there were two standard bearers on the same base. No wOI have enough command bases.
2.Picked off extra scenic bits that had stuck to figures.
3. Did a sepia ink wash over all the figures.
4. Re did some of the shield colours.
5. Made and printed paper flags for all the units.
6. Added metallic bronze and silver to shield bosses, spear tips etc.
7. Matt varnished.

My life was made much easier by the quick drying time of acrylic paints. Thanks to that.

Then  I realised I had no half base or casualties. I suspect they will get as far as undercoated for Saturday.

Hours of work, but I think the army will repay the attention with fighting fervour (?)

There is always something extra to do. It's what makes the hobby so fulfilling. I would go as far to say it's almost impossible to be bored!

I look forward to seeing them at some point Martin. Carolingians are on my to do list. Maybe 2025.
