Kev and Keith playing People's Popular Front against my Hereditary Benign Dictatorship.

K and K had 2 Regular and 1 militia unit, tanks, Toyotas some HMGs and Mortars.

I had 1 professional and 2 regular, 2 MG A/Cs, 2 guns some RCLs and some HMGs.

I won the bonus pre game by 5 and chose to defend allowing me to use my special scenery piece. I placed this incorrectly over my base line arrival zone replacing a solid building template. Oops.

To cut a long story short we had 10 turns. K and K won 43pts to 30pts so a 'big win'.

Thoughts...

1. It does feel a bit gloomy when only the winner of the scenery count gets to roll dice for VPs. K and K won this by 5pts.

2. There is definitely a last turn dash to the scenery regardless of the battlefield situation to grab a few extra points. This has happened in all 5 games I've played so far.

3. Nobody used pinning. I think this was more due to unfamiliarity with the rules than anything. Kev did try it once, wasted 3 hits and never tried again.

4. Pinning from artillery or airstrikes was very useful though.

5. In all of our games  the Communications phase was a favourite.

6. 6 pieces if scenery feels about right, as do the touching rules now.

7. The special scenery piece caused much hilarity when Kev managed to get one of his units into it.

8. We had a minefield for the first time. This caused me some congestion issues as Kev put it right in front of my baseline arrival squares.

9. Heavy armours ineffectiveness against infantry caused Keith to furrow his brow.

10 I used a helicopter which was nice. Keith wanted to be able to shoot it down. He furrowed his brow again when I told him he couldn't. By the end of the game it was down to 2 on its duration points. It had killed a couple of foot bases but failed to destroy Keith's tanks.

Kev may chip in later with his thoughts.

Here are some pictures. We thought the game looked nice. A couple of club members came and watched. One commented "I thought all Peter Pig games were played on squares?" He was shocked to find out we WERE playing on squares  ;D

Nice-looking game and write-up, Sean.

I like the subtle squares. Similar to what Miles does on his display games by marking the corners. A bit of a win if passers-by don't even notice?

Yes I prefer the dot method to the line method. As the actress told me once.

What was most important about the whole thing was we enjoyed it immensely. Kev has started to build his own armies and used some of his figures last night.

I've been taking Piggie games to the Stoke club for many years and this is the first time someone has started their own army to use with the game. They look splendid too!

A righteous struggle Sean.
If you succeed, then we can ask you to get AK into the next olympics?

Lovely looking game Sean. I like the way you have denoted partial cover squares. I may nick that!
