[Minairons] Upcoming Lancia-Ansaldo IZM

As perhaps some of you have already noticed when visiting Minairons' website, it is currently closed for a short vacation until next October 20^th.
While in holidays, I've thought that you would like to know that we're about to launch a new 1:72^nd scale fighting vehicle suitable not just for SCW, but for both World Wars as well - besides of a number of Interwar settings: the
Lancia-Ansaldo IZM armoured car!
This new model kit will become fully available just at our holidays end - by October 20^th, then!



Model itself is mostly resin cast, as you can see in the photo above, complemented by a few 3D printed accessories. It all makes a total of no more than 14 parts.



This one sample has been masterly painted by Salva Rosselló from Pincel y Masilla studio. Don't miss his superb artwork!

That's an intriguing-looking vehicle, Lluis.

Can you tell us what those long bent bars are for either side of the engine compartment?

Barbed wire cutting devices, I guess.

Late WWII Germans used this vehicle in the Balkans too - and they did remove these devices, among other improvements.
I imagine that they judged it no longer useful.

Yes, the bars were designed for cutting through barbed wire.

Lluis, I'm surprised you didn't go for an auxiliary turret on top of the main one as an optional part, as this was used alongside the "normal" version in the SCW.

I assume you will add a 15mm version? From memory only QRF do a crude metal version, without the rails. Have not looked to see if there's a 3d printed version anywhere.

We know that if Lluis does one in 15mm it will be better than any from the more generic suppliers of 3D vehicles

Neil, as far as I know most of the 1916 "IZ" double-turreted version cars were gradually updated right after the 1917 "IZM" single-turreted model was born. Following Tanks Encyclopedia, it would appear that many of the "IZ/IZM" AFVs delivered in Spain lacked that second turret: https://tanks-encyclopedia.com/ww1/italy/lancia-ansaldo_izm.php, regardless of the version they belonged to. Given that fact, I thought that most users would believe it an unncessary complication (seemingly I was wrong )

I do expect to release a 1/100 version of this model at some point, but I have no clear deadline for it yet.

I'd have to dig out the reference books; I've certainly seen a colour plate, but possibly also a photograph of the double turret version in use by the CTV in Spain.

Yep, pages 75 and 76 of Blindados en Espana 1 parte Javier de Mazarrasa.

TBH it's just a small piece to fit over the turret as I don't think there were any other external differences.
