I popped this onto the old group way back when we were all very into old AK, but just in time for no one to comment; it's a couple of flow charts and notes for using O-AK for "the big one" - Central Europe in a Cold War Gone Hot scenario.

Troop quality should be viewed within that context - what I've described as Militia is still mostly modern military, and likely as good as a 1960's Bush War Regular or Professional status etc. It also uses the last agreed upon amendments sheet that was a collaborative effort from us all - attack and scout choppers differentiated, ATGW's, heavy mortars and other bits and bobs. I've attached that file as well, but in no way was it my sole work :D

Text of the Notes below - I was thinking on fleshing them out properly for magazine submission but the urge waned and it's basically just notes and flow charts :)

Comments very welcome!

QuoteNotes on NATO/Warpac Flowcharts (or Ak across the Iron Curtain)

It is recommended that players use the off table artillery support rules from the supplement, as well as the revised rules amendments, points costs and new unit types in the attached amendments version 1.21n file.

Air & artillery strike special events on firing may be used by regular and professional troops.

Any air strike within range of an unpinned AA weapon has an additional –1 on the attackers dice.

With the fluid nature of modern combat, entry and set up points can be left as is (alternatively, designate three adjacent sides where the defender may come on at the centre point, and two or three adjacent corners for the attacker).

'Car bombs' simulate remote booby traps or remote guided weapons (and are found in the supplement).

For terrain, at least one major road, several built up areas of buildings as well as multiple small hills and woods and fields should be used. Rivers and streams should either be cosmetic or have a large number of bridges and/or fords available (or you can improvise some engineering rules if you want!).

Have fun!

I thought the attachments had disappeared, but the Forum had logged me out somewhere along the way - you'll need to be logged in to see them!

Well confirmed, Admin-Pig, now, any comments?!

I'm guessing there's not a lot of interest for this - I'd wondered if with the release of the FoW "cold war gone hot" there might be some for a far superior and much less awkward system?!

I've been looking at getting into Cold War Hot and the fact that the new rules (picking up on Saturday) include CWH was a deciding factor for me. Can't wait to see the army lists  :D
