Greeting to the community. I have been working on a hex less version ass on for HI. Basically each hex movement is converted into 5 inches of movement and you use a turning template to turn ships. I used the rules in a game convention Mini Recon and they worked out great and everyone enjoyed them. I added some items from lessons learned and now the rule set id quit complete enough to be played from most scenarios. The A1 version are in the rules add on section above. I'd appreciate it if some of you can review the rule and try them out in a few test games. The add on includes the interdiction of a new and devastating class of weapon, the very heavy cannon, rifled guns and a ram angle modifiers were added to the ramming rules: you get a bonus for ramming your target square and a penalty for hitting at an extreme angle. Also added are collisions between friendly ships; it happens in a hex less game system and adds some comedy to the game at times. I worked to make the add on simple and in step with the original rules tempo of easy play. Please give it a review and feel free to make suggestions and offer ideas and format to the rules.

I've attached some ship date sheets of ships that use the add on rules; (rifled guns) and a copy of the add on rules.

Thanks in advance.

Commander Klank .

Wasn't an earlier version of HI hex-less with hexagonal templates, or is that the Pirates game I'm thinking of?

Hi Simon,
You're correct. I have a copy of Hammerin' Iron II which uses hexagonal templates for movement.

Best wishes,

This system uses a template for turning and other things like line of site and ram and collision angles.
With this system you can collide with you own ships and run aground n the river bank. The Yankees had a bit of a fur ball going in the Mini Recon convention game I ran.

Quick sheet added...

Played a game yesterday. Big fight between Federal and Confederate ironclads... fought to a draw; both sides lost a ship and had several others battered. The Confederates struggled with using their ram advantage numbers (rookie players...LOL)...

Lessons learned suggestions from players: add movement and weapon data to the large one page ship data sheets. Example attached.
