As Simon suggested 1918 for this years Square Bashing event.
I for once for I would actually get my own army together for this years event !
Whenever that is going to be Simon C ??

So I need a few pointers please ?
Can anyone suggest a reasonable British Army force/set up please. I can look at the book all day but someone must have an army that works ? Gives them a bit of everything? That might actually win a game ? One that I can work out roughly what figures, how many packs etc to start my planning and execution on making my 1918 British force Please?
I will assume some A/cars and Tanks will be in the force ? Loads of Guns and MG's too ?
I might even get my Trench system out and paint it up ?
As I ve got to make up an order for Beachead this year, I ve got some more Hammerin Iron ships on the order, but a number of WW1 British soldiers to go with the ones I ve got (already bought - a while back !) would be nice too.
Many thanks

Still looking for dates earlier in the year avoiding other shows etc  :o It was going to be July time, but I'm now going to Historicon this year so that uses up all my brownie points for that month.

As for the Brits all what you say is correct. 6 MGs are go-to choice (as with all armies - IMHO).  4 Artillery are compulsory.  Hvy ACs are good. The Infantry is all pretty robust (no conscripts) ... but giving the cost of everything else Prof infantry are probably a luxury.

This seems to write itself

I was interested to see that you have some infantry with LMG and others not, Simon. I'd (clearly mis-) read the army book to say that either all units had LMG or none...  ::)

I think it says all infantry have LMG support, then its optional <to save points>

Its not that clear whether its an all or none or any

martin goddard

It marks the introduction/interation of  the Lewis to the whole army.
Therefore I think it should be all.
It is possble that Indian units might not have it?

I read your intent into the words, Martin :)

Ok I will have to have a look at this ?
Thanks for the initial ideas. So all the 1918 Regular bases should have at least one base of the 4 with Lewis gun on it then ?

I don't think you literally need to include the Lewis guns, Miles, as all bases fight the same. But I have in mine, for the look of the thing.
