Looking at the lists of ships, that I done in the past year ago or so, I realised I missed doing Virginia 2.
So after doing a long overdue clean up in the cabin. I ve piled up my HI fleets etc and then got on with the task in hand.
It's been a while since I ve done anything with the hobby as well.
Hopefully it's turned out ok ?

PLEASE do a Mil article on how you do these. Its wonderful.

I will when I get time. I do take pictures etc.
It's relatively simple. Get the right plan, work out the correct dimensions then draw a box and go from there. Using the right plastic card, metal rod and green stuff for things threat would be stupid to try and make out of plastic card etc.
Put it all together and bobs your uncle.
Remember you are making a Wargames model, hence I use metal rod/tubes and not plastic tubes/rods; so they will get handled a lot.
So you can sacrifice some detail for robustness, plus you are modelling in 1/600th scale.
Remember PP make the best "boats on Divets" so remember to buy these and quite a few packets ! I am surprised I am not up there on the lists for how many I ve bought over the past year or so ?
I will write an article for the mill in the near future, once I ve sorted out my ships/boats so I can. Go through them in some order, might be able to make a few articles if I do it right.

Here is a few of my Ships and boats now painted.
Mainly Confederate with a few Union boats in there too.
Hence why I ve yet to submit my lists for Sample Navies which I will do over next week, hopefully!

Miles,

Is that all you've done - what have you been playing at all week?  ;D

This is lovely work, and great inspiration for painting my own in due course. Maybe a little foray into riverine warfare painting after Beachhead...?

Actually no I ve done more, but some of them are just tidying up old models to bring them up to standard, as they were done a few years ago.
As I want to make the ships look a bit more than thrown together at the 17th December day.

Just to show what you can do with PP castings. CSS and USS Tennessee using the Tennessee model in the normal range. I will write an article about this. But here are a few pictures for now.

Looking forward to that article,  Miles!

This is really amazing !! What a work !!
Brillant !

I ve added another Ironclad to my fleet. Took a bit of work as I thought at first I could play about with the PP Tennessee?
But unfortunately no it wasn't the case, I added a few bits of plastic card to build up the superstructure correctly, but again that didn't work. So a complete cover job. But at least this ship hopefully won't warp ? As I ve found with the "Texas" ? As the Tennessee is a slimmed down base for the whole model.
Now I ve got to prime her then properly paint her up.

Very good Miles, and I look forward to seeing how she'll turn out once fully painted.
