A question for Martin G here - did you have any particular troop type in mind when considering the Auxiliary Infantry in the C&K Carolingian army list?

I was wondering whether the new swordsmen pack #46 might fit the bill, but would be interested to hear what you had in mind when putting together the list, please.

Hello Simon

They are various allied contingents.   Saxons (various), Spanish,  Slavic  and Eastern european.
The best figures to use would be the skirmishers with javelins or unarmoured spear Carolingians.

I will confess that I am not an expert. I rely on the various  seres of WRG army books, Ospreys and other various sources. Added to this is that CK only has a few categories . Thus, troops are  fitted to one of those limited categories.

The swordsmen are intended to be mixed in with the spearmen for variety.

The coming packs will be mostly mounted ones.
I have started doing a little sculpting again and hope to get some new figures out in a couple of weeks (?)

I'm not sure what you are using the term auxiliary for here. As Holy Roman Emperor they could call up foreign troops from Swabian, Bavarian or Thuringia. If you mean auxuliary in a sense of 'not-Caballarii', then the Heerbaan freie herren and levy were Franks directly in the service of the Emperor.

Charlemagne also had alliances with Breton, Lombardy, Bohemia and Moravia

If your Carolingians cover Charles Martel then he also had an alliance with Odo of Aquitaine  (at the battle of Tours), but to be honest they just joined the throng and were no different I'd imagine

Useful inout thereSion, thanks.
In CK Auxiliary means troops that don't fight shoulder to shoulder in a dense block.
