Those among you having painted WWI Austro-hungarians, what colour palette have you chosen?
I'm using Vallejo paints, BTW.

Thanks in advance,

I went for 1915 Austrians. So it was after they had changed the blue/grey uniform for a mid grey, but before they adopted the German uniforms. I'm not sure what the Vallejo colour would be as I don't use their paints very much.

Not got around to painting mine yet Lluis, tied up on WW2 project, but planned to use Games Workshop paints - 'the Fang and Russ grey', with watered down nuil oil wash.

I use Anita's Periwinkle Blue, which is a dusty blueish grey with the tiniest hint of purple - matches well with the colour rendered in the Osprey MaM. Having said that, were I to use Vallejo I would consider Grey blue 70.943 061, although it is slightly too dark for my preference. Pastel blue 70.091 063 is also a contender, although probably a little too blue. A possibility might be the blue grey as a base coat and the pastel blue as a dry brush. It is a pity that nobody seems to do a colour specifically for the early Austro-Hungarian army. Also Anita's acrylic paints were just a lucky find I had when living in Liverpool. I think they may be from the USA but not entirely sure on that.

For the early Austrian "pike" grey, I would use a mix of 992 middle grey and 807 blue.

I followed a Vallejo painting guide I found on-line.
I don't know what I've done with the guide as the army is long since finished.
I think I used 70870 Medium Sea Grey as a base coat, followed by the Army Painter black wash followed by highlights of 70905 Pale Blue Grey.

Whatever the recipe I'm very pleased with the outcome. As they say that is all that matters.
I wish you success.

Great, thanks to you all!
I'm probably going to give a try to a sample figure first; once done, I'll share results here, sirs.

Interested to see the result. Might knock up a couple of my 12mm figures to show how they look with the periwinkle.
