As it's Christmas, just to find out who has or is thinking on doing Winter forces for PBI ?
I ve got 8 tanks for my British, in a "Whitewash" camo. So I thought it's about time I did some troops to go with them ?
I know Stewart has his Xmas Army, Snowman, Elfs and Gingerbread man etc.
Who else has any White Washed troops and equipment ?

John Watson

I have winter Germans, but only the bases are whitewashed. The troops wear overcoats.

I intend to do a winter army.
At the moment I am considering US but not in overcoats or the ever popular Russians?
Snow games are eye catching and probably easier to see?

Big Mike

I have a company of US Airborne in Winter mode. They are on snow-effect or 'frosty' bases  and some have off-white painted helmets. Here are some pics of the smaller Ardennes game.

Scenes from the last great battle organised before all this Pandemic started after February 2020. It seems so long ago!
But for now we are talking about 400 points Armies, which we can use on a normal 4x4 table for the new updated (2020+ edition)of these successful PBI rules
I know a few of us have White clothes from the Battle of Bulge game we played a few years ago in Dorchester.
Like John and Mike said earlier, this includes forces that are in transition but the bases mainly having some form of Ice,Frost and Snow represented on their bases ! Maybe in summer/Winter clothing either with white helmets, great coats and even white pieces of uniform.
I want to continue with doing a British force that would mainly be Europe 1944/45, as this was a harsh Winter, as I have Tanks from the above mentioned game day built and painted already.
But I do fancy doing a Russian Winter force, as I don't have a Russian Army, as there are now a lot of Russian tanks available on the market (PP of course and other manufacturers) that go across the war, it might be a good time to start one ?

How have you people done the whitewash for winter effect?  I am not sure whether to do a proper white paint or to have a very thin watery wash.

MiG Ammo do a washable white which is good on vehicles.  Worth practising though as the effect can overwhelm a model.  Otherwise I might suggest chipping fluid or just streaking with a white enamel paint.

Worth knowing.  However, in reality, is it that the troops just gave a quick broom application of whitewash or were the vehicles fully painted with white paint?  Hence streaky white wash of the vehicles or a full paint job?

Vallejo do a "White Wash".  Its pretty good stuff for tanks.  Link to the product on the vallejo website below

The Brits used to throw white bed sheets over their tanks and soak them with water.  They would ice up and stick to the tank.

I do have my Finns. Still not around to using them though. Maybe one day
