Getting the best out of Mortars?

Hi everyone,
Not sure when my next game of BAIT will be but I've been thinking about Mortars. I've a big SCW collection and played lots of games. I'm still perplexed about how to get the best out of Mortars. The line of sight rule and the minimum range means I rarely get to shoot with them. Anyone got any suggestions? I'd hate for them to never come out of the soldier box. Cheers John
