Paul Coaker. "The old man in the cardigan". Died on February 17th.
Paul was very energetic indeed.  He would drive all over the county to attend games in the evenings and weekends.
Paul would be well know by local Dorset gamers.
However no man is an island and his death diminishes all of us.

I have started this topic so that his death does nor get lost in other news.
Please do add comments about your time with Paul.

His son Mike is a fellow wargamer who lives in Bridport.

I will say a a little prayer and we can all remember him in our own way.
Anyone with any more news do post it here if you think it appropriate.

Blimey, well won't be playing him over a CWB game in November then !
That's very sad news indeed. Hopefully he passed away peacefully ?

I believe Paul's wife died a week before.

That leaves Mike with no parents.

That is very tough for Mike as they were very close indeed.

Paul was always so vigorous he seemed immortal.

Big Mike

Paul was a great supporter of our local Wargame community and our events. He was a tough and experienced player who was always up for a game of PBI. Paul and Mike were playing a long standing campaign with me based on the US v German fighting in Tunisia. We were due to move across the sea to Sicily when the Pandemic subsided.
I will miss Paul's knowledge and friendship. My thoughts and prayers are with Mike and his Family with the loss of both Mum and Dad.

Very sad news
Paul will be missed by all gaming groups he visited.
He had a lot of stamina and could be relied upon for a good game.

Another friendly face will be missing across the wargames table when we can once again meet in person.

I'm very sad to hear this. Paul was always a tough opponent on the table, but friendly with it and had plenty of stories to tell. My condolences to Mike and what must be an incredibly tough time.

This is the second wargaming friend of mine to die in as many weeks. Life can sometimes turn out like that.

Yes, all very sad.
Paul was denied his last year of wargaming by whoever caused the virus outbreak.

Yes very sad news. Paul was a great supporter of our local clubs and was a regular at the Dorchester, Weymouth and South Somerset clubs, the Weymouth Weekender and until no all that long ago the Wells club. He seemed to have boundless energy for gaming and was definitely one of the old guard having been gaming since dinosaurs roamed the earth, that said he was always enthusiastic
to try out new rules and must have play tested all of Martin's rules.  I have played him more times then I can remember, I last played alongside him a year ago at the Dorchester club and it is sad to think that won't happen again and I'll miss him, always chatty and happy to have a go at anything wargames wise.

I will also add my condolences.

Sad news. Like all wargamers he hasn't died, he has failed to achieve his score required to survive roll.
John.

Snake eyes on a morale roll.

Sadly we all do it in the end no matter how we shake those dice.
