Old Pieces of Eight Rules

Hi all. I remember some old pirate rules/scenarios in Miniature Wargames from the early 2000s, with ships exploring various islands and tables to roll on for events on said islands. Looking at an index these articles seem to have been based on Pieces of Eight. What are the differences between the old 90s rules and the current edition? I don't think there were land raid grids in the MW article, but measured movement.
