I hope the Japanese used their surprise and flank assets to good effect!!

Or, it could be their abject failure in this instance that led to their banishment from the new rules...?

Another good game tonight.
Martin's Veteran USMC, 3 platoons (Pc, 4 x BAR, 6 x Garland) 2x average Sherman's
Against Stewart's Raw Japanese , 5 platoons, (PC, 10 rifle, 3 lmg, lt mortar, a/t rifle) 3 average tanks

Japanese defended away from the beach and tree line , with objectives in front of a village, in front of a hill and road entrance . Open ground and rough /marsh in front of objectives.

Martin attacker with 2 platoons on , Stewart defending with 2 platoons,

Martins Marines hit the beach and rushed through the tree line across the open ground to take the road entrance after pining with HE,

Stewart had 1 platoon in depth around this objective, 2nd platoon split in two to cover the other objectives.
This platoon was unmolested and put enfilade fire on to the attacking Americans causing many casualties.

The Marine platoon  attacking the  road junction lost many men but took the objective after a hard assault having only 1 base left to occupy the objective which was shot off next turn but the Japmplatoon was spent after losing one morale check but winning two subsequent morale checks with the help of the company commander in his captured Royals Royce.

The first marine platoon  was spent.
2nd marine platoon attacked across the open to surport the first and attack centre objective, they caused a couple of casualties on the Jap platoon but we're pined down by snipers and machine gun fire, the Pc and friends reached the flank of the objective but the Japanese launch a mad charge along the hill and thanks to poor shooting from the flustered marines killed the Pc and company.
The 2nd marine platoon was spent.
The Sherman's and US 3rd platoon arrived, the platoon charged the road junction objective again and suffered the same fate as the first platoon, survivors were charged by another Japanese charge of the remaining 5 bases of the Jap 1st platoon, all Marines dead no losses to the Japanese, but unable to occupy the objective.

The Japanese tanks had arrive and charged through the village to take on the Sherman's and helped to finish of the Marinec2nd platoon with MG fire.

After a frantic tanks duel , one Sherman destroyed .

Game over,
Big win to the Defending Japanese ,
Japanese destroyed 3 vet platoons(33 bases) , 1 Sherman , occupied two objectives
USMC  15 Japanese bases destroyed

Congratulations Martin and (obviously a few more to) Stewart - that sounds like a great game.

Good to see that the Japanese can win as well as lose - seemingly the rules aren't too unbalanced.

Looking forward to the draft new rules in due course.

Martin was unlucky, one assault saw martin with 13 dice and a re-roll against my 4 dice,
Result two kills each. Win for the Japanese.
