75th  VJ anniversary .

The question is
"have you used or r
Fought against a Japanese company in PBI?

Experiences and thoughts.

I use my Japanese army company quite often.
The little tankettes (nice and cheap) are good versus infantry, but just target practice to any post 1940 army.
The PC  bases are cheap but useless, with their pistol armament.
The cheap cost of Japanese usually does allow 3 platoons to be fielded. This can help grind down opponent infantry by outnumbering them.

Overall I have found them a very poor PBI company (as they should be historically) but great fun to use, as they are challenging.

I have fought against your Japanese company,  Martin.

They may be very poor, but they beat me - 'nuff said? 😄

I have Both Jap and US Marines in my Pacific box.
Have used both and the Banzai rule in the old PBI could be useful at the right moment.

I have used my Japanese a few times. I can't ever remember winning with them. Last time out I lost to Dutch East Indies which takes some doing. I think you are best off attacking with them to make best use of the numbers. I have also bought some "better" tanks in the hope that they can take on at least some enemy armour.

The do gooders have changed it to VP day here.  Victory in the Pacific.

I play Japanese in two scales.  28mm and 15mm.  Sadly not PBI.

With the Japanese a lot of scenery helps.
3 woods and 3 buildings gives them a  better chance of coping with enemy MG and HE fire.

Japanese can be quite good in defence as they can take a good hammering when dug in or stationary in cover.
If the infantry are kept in a second row of cover they can hide from heavy weapons.  ie they cannot be directly seen and fired upon.

I will get the Japanese out again when PBI starts up (that might be September 2020??).

Martin,
I have fought your EOJ Army once I believe with my KNIL - and won, so I remember. This is such an unusual outcome for my Dutchmen but they are both worthy opponents. The Dutch had some reasonable artillery and lots of mortars. I have been looking for the quirky armoured Overvalwagen transports but it is had to find in an accurate moulding.
