The cry given out in warning about the approach of British troops.
The "British are coming" is not correct as everyone was British at that time.

What would you do.
Get out your musket and form up with the patriot militia?
Get out your musket and prepare to assist the regulars?
Hide indoors?
Turn over and sleep some more?
Run into the woods?
Set fire to your neighbour's barn in the confusion?
Return to your tribal home in the woods?
Stop smuggling that night?
Return home?

etc

Get out my musket and form up with the militia, of course.  My family's been on these shores since 1630 or so which leaves me no real choice, really.  Somehow I've landed on the west coast of the continent howsoever.  But let's see, I have British for the French and Indian War, British for the American Revolution, British for the Sudan, British for Slightly Cracked Colonials, and British for the Boxer Rebellion.  Does that mean my loyalties are divided?  :-\

Hide in the local tavern until it all blows over.

Paul Revere's ride might make an interesting gamette?
