I am going to give some interesting or odd facts/titbits about the Mexwar (good moniker?) to get us chatting and commenting.

1.Battle of CUAUTLA   May 1911.
Defenders (Government 5th regiment) using an aqueduct as a good shooting position that could see down upon Zapata's troops.
Solution by Zapata;  pour petrol into the aqueduct and burn all the chaps therein!

2. GUERRERO March 1916.
US 7th cavalry got a bit lost whilst advancing into Mexico. The guide was not sure where he was going and the map was wrong too. "The circular march around the desert".

Great idea.

Maybe 'MexRev' to distinguish it from 1846 etc?

I shall  put out "MexRev" and see if that floats?

I'm trying to resist yet another period, when I have still much other stuff still to do, but this one certainly sounds interesting!

Assuming it will be 3x3 bases you can use square bashing and SCW figures. Therefore you may have an army already Simon? In the extreme I would have thought that German paras will stand in for Mex infantry?
I would think that a fair few cavalry are needed for this war. There are still a lot of infantry forces though.  I would expect that the SCW buildings will be fine for Mexico too.

If you only look down upon the table then 150 little white circles will be enough for Zapata's army with their universal sombreros. :)

I have a mounted Cossack force with a train, they went the long way round to Mexico

They will do just fine Stewart! :)

A number of years ago we stopped in (I think) Mazetland on a cruise. Looking across the street was a Vauban style stone fort. (Can't find pictures). Just my luck after walking over I found it was closed.  But both formidable & solid... so not everything was wide open terrain. 😀

And funny... security on the ship ship docks provided by the Mexican Military. My impression was the Mexican Marines do look much like German paras. In any case ...very serious & armed to the teeth.

Martin,

Thanks for being so flexible - but that won't help with your figure sales  :D

Question: Would this be Sq Bashing style game or a PBI style game ? We know it be 6 inch Squares.
Hoping it will the latter.

At this early stage things are in flux.
I am inclined to go with Stewart's suggestion of SCW bayonet and ideology.
The rules will need modifying for cavalry to have a slightly different role.
More "dug ins" too.
Probably 8 army types. ???

That sounds very good idea. But of course it wouldn't be too hard to use the same bases in SQ Bashing.... that way keeping both "camps" happy.

SB v SCW is mainly the number of bases per unit.
