A planned game of Regiment of Foote morphed into a game of Squarebashing the other night. The BEF were defenders with a small professional army of 8 infantry battalions, 1 unit of cavalry, a couple of guns and some MG's. The Germans were all regulars with 10 battalions of infantry, 2 cavalry units, 4 guns and 3 MG's.

The terrain did hamper German progress, but also the German player was a little too tardy in getting on with things. By the time he had got his act together the BEF reinforcements had arrived and in fact launched a counter attack. It was a big win for the BEF and the German high command was forced to retreat and lick its wounds.

The German army readying itself for a push against the village.

The Royal Artillery caused severe casualties on the Germans as they formed up for attack.

German recconaissance aircraft attempt to direct the German artillery.

The charge of the German Uhlans ended badly as the BEF stood firm.

The Yeomanry advance and charge to glory!

Game end. A bloody nose for the Germans who must lick their wounds and look to go again if the war is to be over before Christmas.

Looking very good, especially with the gridded cloth - so glad I got one.
