I shall be running Walter Schnaffs as a participation game at Phalanx this year, under the aegis of Liverpool Wargames Association. My intention is to play it in the style of a Square Bashing Quick Game, so that participants can get stuck in. 40 points French defender v 60 points Prussian attacker.

Please take some photos - it would be good to see! :-)

Will do. Unfortunately, owing to unforeseen circumstances I will not actually be running the game as I will now only be able to attend for a couple of hours, but I have trained up another club member, who really enjoys the game, and he will be running it for me. I will make a special guest appearance and I will of course have my camera with me. Also looking forward to the forthcoming Invasion supplement.

Well double disappointment on this one. First off I can only attend the show for a short period, so I trained up another club member to run the game, and he seemed very willing to do it. However, none of us have been able to contact him for three weeks, and he has not been down the club, and no one else can run the game as they are not familiar with it, so we have had to abandon it and replace it with Actium (I think). Anyway I'll still be there fore a short time before and after midday.

Well, with the appearance of Walter Schnaffs 2.04 I will attempt to run the game at Phalanx again this year. I'll keep people posted as to whether this is a goer (it will depend on the club securing a table for me).

Unfortunately the club can only run two games at Phalanx 2019 and they have settled on 28mm Great Italian Wars and something else (which clearly does not grab my attention). I will probably help out with the GIW game, but it appears that once again the 'spectacle' of 28mm has won out, even though most of the people who attend shows seem to be wargamers already, and thus aware that there are more scales other than 28mm.
