its not Chrome, its they are Photobucket images

Ah - thanks. So, it could be something to do with my not being a Photobucket subscriber?

I don't even see a placeholder for images or any error messages on that site - just blocks of text with no pretty pictures....

Yes simon you now need to pay money, Photobucket changed its policy some time last year.

I'm kind of surprised Photobucket didn't sink immediately from that stunt. Doesn't seem like anyone has bothered getting a paid subscription (and no one can see photos).

Yeah, photobucket locked all the pictures. I never got round to trying to sort through all the images on my PC and fit them to the games.
