John came over from Southampton today. We played two games of Western
Game 1 Plains Indians versus Mexicans. Mexican slaughtered the Indians. Mexicans were defenders.
Game 2. Plains Indians versus cavalry. Cavalry beat the Indians. Indians were defending.

Points of note.
The fights were very bloody. Quite often 4 scores-of 6 out of 10D6. Maybe just one of those days.
A small veteran group with a legendary shooter outshot a big group of raw shooters easily.
Seems a good tactic to intimidate raw groups on morale(proximity etc) to stop them doing stuff. Historical and clever.
Worthwhile gathering up wounded in order to help group re-number.
Avoid allowing opponent putting dead ground next to defence piece. If he does, assault into that dead ground using short assault to give a lot of D6.
Consider that a mounted unit can easily cover 4 squares and assault through open squares.
Consider putting hits on leader at times in order to reduce casualties in the open. Risky but useful.
If plenty of action points available pop out, shoot and pop back again.

Colonel Kilgore

Sounds like good advice, Martin.

Maybe we need a "Top Tactics Tips" section for each ruleset?
