A small thing that I have noticed is that some of the major threads show up as having unread pages, but when I open them up there are no unread pages. This is happening with Square Bashing and Men Of Company B.

Martin keep the boxed sets as they are still a good starting point and can be tweaked nearer the rules completion.

Been looking through the boxes.
Found one platoon of Moroccans, with 3 MMG's all painted. Even have a hacienda with two buildings and walls.
And found some more spanish buildings, need to get them dusted off and out on the table, have most of the scenery now.

So need to find the cloth and get it all laid out. And perhaps a photo or two.

I have started two armies and had a few Moroccans that were for AK47.
Moroccans all painted and based.
The two new armies were PP boxed armies.  These will give me basic armies, as Stewart has done.
As Stewart says what we have started with will need amending before the final rules set is published.
But as with Martins previous rule rewrites he will start from what the armies are for the current edition and build from there.

So below is a summary of Martins current thoughts on the game, contact him if you feel able to help play testing.
Basic force
3 platoons . Each of 10 bases (8 rifle, 1 light weapon ,1PC)

To this will be added things like more men, AC, tank, MMG etc........
Raw will get more additions to make up for the starting difference between them and average/vet.

So, you turn up with three platoons and then declare their quality and choose additions (assets). You will probably do this way before the game.
Still doing the thinking whilst MOCB gets fully cooked.
Then extras are assets from a pointed list.
Along the lines of 1asset point gets 2 more man bases. 7 asset points gets a pair of good tanks. 2 asset points gets aircraft???
I wish to see plenty of infantry on the table and some simplification of PBI.

Game will use 6" squares. Therefore there will probably be the same old 2 square (6 x 12) templates in use.
Scenery = built up(dense and light), rough ground, rough hills, gentle hills, light woods, heavy woods.etc
I think it will be standard(?) 6x12 templates from S and A.

I think the nature of the Spanish country side means the scenery will either be rocky based or building based.
Prospective TOTAL per game
8 building templates
2 wooded templates
5 ravine/stream lengths
4 rough hill templates
Plus a load of partials and a single road too.
Special rules for defences and ravines.

reverse hill and building numbers for the alternate scenery majority.

Just to let the group know how things might start (they do however change a lot in the making).

1. Players choose a company (say 12 choices). The company is rule designated as vet/av/raw
2. Players get three platoons each of 10 bases.
3. To this they add things they buy from their allowance.
4. 5x3 table
5. Special scenery piece for each company.
6. borrowed from Vietnam = return shooting, scenery ,
7. Borrowed from PBI. AP, assaults and morale.
8. Pre-game will exist , but be simpler.
With anew BAIT on the horizon I am doing some preparatory work.
One of the first pieces will be to present to you 20 nice things you could add to a foundation of 3 platoons. I will send out list in the new year and those who have time might be willing to price each item from a "kitty" of say 24 points. The values would be personal opinions initially. They then might be modified by what they can do within the rules. Assuming the rules are reasonable I am hoping that rough values might be easy enough to arrive at. I might then average them all out or adopt some median type thing? ?
Here are some thoughts about BAIT (Bayonet And Ideology Three).
Only half formed thoughts at the moment.
Each line needs to end in a question mark,
Needs to be a bit simpler than PBI in terms of extras.
Two types of tank, armoured trucks and two types of towed gun.
Return and opponent shooting like MOCB. easier because of less LMGs,(should quicken game)
Shorter pre-game.(but still needing skill to succeed)(something fun but with no physical hitting each other)
MOCB type morale system?(extend range)
Tricks, bluffs and ruse de guerre(NEW)
10 army types (approx)
PBI asset system with characteristics for each of the 10 armies.
Interference from off table higher command
No random card system. No mixed forces

all works a treat when you follow the instructions.
all four most useful with most having a couple of choices to make for more variety.

And my Carlist's three FT17's, but i expect that will be too many for the rules!
