Eye Candy / Zvezda Art of Tactic kits for Stalingrad
September 16, 2025, 03:33:01 PM
15mm Zvezda StuG III early kit for Stalingrad.

Bit of cock up at the end when I added some light dust (Tamiya Desert Yellow and Buff) over the surface but had forgotten to add the chipping fluid before hand so ended up masking a lot of the hard work on the one with stowage so had to go back and add the same effect to the other two models. Oh well :)

Good to catch up with some of you.  Games looked good.  Didn't buy a lot of toys mostly paint and material.  I do like Newbury as a venue.

Terrain and Figures / Re: Undulations
August 30, 2025, 09:13:14 PM
I use a fleece blanket as a gaming mat for everything from 6mm to 40K.  Any multi based stand of figures handles the small undulations I put  under the mat.  I don't put anything higher than 25mm (as my hill sections are made from 25mm blue foam).  As long as you have the ability to delineate zones it works fine..

Terrain and Figures / Soviet Tank Riders
August 30, 2025, 06:52:14 PM
While Martin does a strip of 3 (Pack 150) they aren't animated.  So I took the snips to some kneeling figures, including scouts and the old crew pack I had, to see what I could do.  A blob of putty to hold each "block" together.

I have just ordered 6 packs of kneeling SMGs for collection next week to work on a Version 2.0 as I need around 48 tank riders for a project

While repairing decals was the driver for getting airplanes done it didn't take long to get the pile of shame out and a quick rummage through to try and clear a few models out of it.

Eye Candy / 1/600 Korea refresh

While cleaning up I noticed that some of my very early home made decals had started to deteriorate.  The old printer finally gave up the ghost so bit the bullet and gone for an LED laser printer.  Same DPI but a lot quicker and cleaner to make decals.  Also how my painting has improved from the black undercoat and drybrush from when these first started

Old Decals showing the issue

Terrain and Figures / Re: return to Stalingrad
March 02, 2025, 05:37:34 PM
Hi, apologies, been distracted by every other project :)

The Stalingrad project will be getting a restart in May to try and finish things off. My eldest son moved back home and I lost my gaming/workshop since last Novembe.  I am back up and painting but don't have any construction space at the moment.

Still up in Gloucester but do come down your way to work occasionally. Keep meaning to get my self down to Poole to see who is around.  Maybe the new year

Eye Candy / USMC Refresh

Like most of my PP toys, I started these nearly 30 years ago.  This is the first time I have stripped them back and started again though.  First bunch through the process and will be singly based.  And it is only now that I appreciate the little details martin added such as wrist watches..

Mock up done using just two sections.  Scales okay for 15mm but Inthink I need to make it a bit shorter

Need to go back and redesign the end sections where it meets the bank as they should have an extra set of side planking. The base units when I drew them were meant to sit at the vertical posts and not where the angles join so will redo a set of 3 x 5 boxes and glue that together first.

The rest of the design just needs tidying up and some bolt detail adding.
