Eye Candy / Re: Pony Wars
October 17, 2021, 01:25:30 AM
I was part of that kick starter group. Got my rules and cards.
Also received enough figures in 6mm to have a quick game.Place a second order for more Indians/mounted, teepees and village Indians, the fort, extra wagons including the warwagon, plus other extra. So far I have the US Cavalry painted up, and have half of those mounted.
Never did 6mm before, so started by using inks for the basic colors, then dry brushing, and lastly regular paints with a touch here and there. Finish them fairly quickly...thank god. With hundreds of mounted troops looking at you, its sets you back some.Just finish cleaning, mounted on cardboard strips for painting, then primer with flat white, 240 Indian mounted warriors.
Will include pictures later.I haven't started on the playing board that will 6 x 8 ft.....that's huge. Thinking 2 x 6 ft sections will be the way to go with this.Years ago at our annual convention, I did Pony Wars in 15mm. Its was a very successfully.
Afterwards I lost most of my collection of miniatures. So now I'm starting over.

I did some of what I set out to do. Ran all five games, and received best of show for a period for AK-47 and Lion Rampant. I'm started to video record my first game somewhat, when I'm realizes that there was no way I could GM and video at the same time. But a good friend of mine, Bryan did an awesome video and here it is; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p-SdADVEXsg

Enfilade 2021 is on for September 2 - 5th, 2021.
As for AK-47 Republic 6 players game I will be GM, it is filled by per-registration.Here my game description.
There an Ebola outbreak in central Africa state, but local warlord stops all relief efforts. UN has organizes multi-national force to go in and help. The Warlord has organizes his guard & local militia, call in ISIS for assistance and other bad actors. The Rumors that the Chinese and/or Russians....
I have been forced to streamline AK-47 Republic game system somewhat so that six players(never played it before) can complete it with the convention time limit. Shall including pictures later after the convention.

Thanks for your remarks gentlemen.Thinking that just calling them a group of crazy Arabs. that should work.
Little War TV.com is offering a prize for best wargaming you-tube video, so I'm thinking of filming all five games at the convention. Each game should be about 2 minutes long, quick introduction, the players with first names, forces, and few quick review of action about on turn 1, 3, 5, 7 or so on. Then a review of the win and why. I'm film it with my smart phone camera.

Enfilade 2021 is on for Labor Day in September.
I have saved my notes from last year for an AK-47 republic scenario.
Have scheduled this scenario for September 4, 2021. For 6 players.
Have 3 hours and 50 minutes for game time.
Have painted up additional ISIS Arab troops for the warlord side.
Play test in Summer at my friend place.
Also will do a Hammerin' Iron Scenario.
And three other scenarios for the convention.
One is Lion Rampant, Crusader States supplement.
Second is The Men who would be Kings, relief of an afghan hill fort.
Third Musket and Tomahawk, supplement Shako and Bayonets. French trying escape a Spanish and British trap.

I enjoy giving back to wargaming hobby by doing these scenarios at convention.

Hope to see one or two of you there.

I have some news on Enfilade 2020. On April 2th, 2020, Enfilade 2020 has been cancelled due to corona virus outbreak.
I have wrote up about playtesting AK-47 first scenario and why it took a few games before it was finish.
My second scenario Modern Africa, Gold Rush, never had a chance to playtest it. Send it too. If anyone does play it, I would love to know how it turn out.

I send both scenarios and photos to Martin/PPM and he may publish them or not in Mill.
My local group of gamers and myself enjoyed AK-47 and I had fun painting up all those figures for it.
Stay at Home and safe

Subject:Modifying AK-47 for Multi-players Convention Game.
Starting to paint up my latest order from Peter Pig, this will give me more than enough to field two AK-47 armies of 1000 pts each.Thinking that I could divide 1000pts into 3 commands, thus having 6 players for this monster game, Two flank commands will get 300pts/3+ units each and the center overall commander will have 400pts/4+ units(also control off board assets)
Plan to increase the turns count to from 24 to 32 - 36 points.Since this will be a convention game, I will set one side as defender (African with Arab support forces) and other as outside western forces attacking, (USA Marines and French F Legion, main force as African nation). Thinking also to give each player special conditions/orders, like "fire engagement orders..only can return fire, if fire upon."
Increase the area of the gaming map from 6ft x 3ft to 8ft x 4ft, have all terrain 8 or 9 per side, allowing players to lay them out as per AK-47 rules, along with victory locations.Allowing thinking of using to 2x USA helicopters as gunships, but also allow them to drop 6 infantry stands behind enemy lines...still thinking on how that may work.Have anyone else modified AK-47 rule for large multi-players games?Any helpful suggestions?
We're tried playing AK-47 with 500 pts per side with four players, that work out fine. Attached photo of that game

Hey Martin,

All my townsfolk are old western skirmish figures(the miniature companies is out of business now) I bought years ago and stop playing with since I dislike most western type skirmish game that are so sloooow. My liability were a outlaw masked and running away with bag of cash as the town Judge and a lady, owner of a last night business above the saloon
That why I totally enjoy Peter Pig's Western rules...are battles, not skirmish.
My Indians are a mix of Foundry, Old Glory, and few others that had mounted Indians. The dismount Indians were purchased long time ago.
My US Cavalry is Mostly Perry's mounted plastic and dismounted metal troops/ACW are Perry's too. For my US Cavalry leaders I used Foundry"s Little Bighorn Personalities mounted and dismounted, they just are awesome looking figures and a kick to paint up.
My Mexican Army I purchases three years ago from a good wargaming friend.
I'm take photos and write a AAR of our battle afterwards.

And thanks Simon, I will try using square brackets for my photos.

Hey Martin,

First picture show my loses from pre-battle defender rolls in the lower left and loses from Plains Indians first turn just below the game mat.
Second picture is my friend Milton's force made up of crazy and wild plain Indians.
It was a hard fought battle, with heavy loses to townsfolk (over 50%), but they held out in 3 buildings that repulse repeated assaults by Indians.
Again fun and fast rules.
Next Wednesday it will be two Armies again each other, the US Cavalry vs Mexican forces.
