I'll be looking to complete my Rus (almost there)

Paint a couple more units of foot and mounted ECW

Paint some WoTR figures - maybe four units

Paint Spanish and Moorish Medievals

That should be plenty but I am sure life will probably get in the way and plans will change.

The winner, by definition, is the first to 50. So he will always have 50 or more points. What counts is how far the loser (who will of course have fewer than 50 points) is behind the winner.

This "piggy chase" is a principle common to many RFCM rules, so rather easier to grasp for those of us who are now familiar with the concept.

It is perhaps unfortunate in the example provided that the player named Victor is actually the loser, and it's George who is the winner!

But yes, Victor on 31 points should be at Level 2, 16-34 points. There does indeed appear to be an error here: while Victor (as the chase loser, who is forced to be the attacker), should have "Attacker has 2 units on table. Attacker's choice" rather than what is stated.

The "well organised" bit may have been a hangover to a previous draft in which each Level of difference (which are now numbered 1 to 4) may have had a name instead. Something else I failed to catch in my proof-reading - sorry...

In any case, does the above help any?

Simon

Thanks Simon
Very helpful

Nick

We're a bit confused by the example in the rule book.
It may be that we have this completely wrong and haven't understood the process.
If Victor finishes with 31 then shouldn't that come under Level 2 16-34?
If this is the case then it doesn't match the narrative in the example.
If this is not the case then we don't follow how this process works.
Also where does "well organised" come from?

Started playing B&I at our local centre. Looking at the rule regarding AP is it 3 squares per platoon that can be motivated or is it 3 squares per company?

Also are the examples for the Legion and Moroccans erroneous as they seem to have 3 platoons yet they are classed as veteran so shouldn't they have just two?

I have played both What a Cowboy and Tombstone (Black Scorpion) and I much prefer the latter. Doesn't take long to be familiar with the rules and is a better game if you want to use more figures.

An example of this would be the USS Passaic which could also represent other boats in its class such as Camanche, Catskill, Conestoga, LeHigh, Montauk, Nahant and Nantucket.
The side wheeled paddle rams CSS General Sumter and CSS General Bragg could equally be used as other rams as the Confederates converted at least 14 river steamers into rams. These included Colonel Lovell, General Beauregard, General Earl Van adorn and General Stirling Price to name a few.
A good source is Tony Gibbons Warships and Naval Battles of the US Civil War.

It is just like going to the supermarket and finding that all the shelving has been rearranged. Initially very annoying but you get used to it after a while it is just that everything takes longer to do until familiarisation is achieved.

I have to say £25 just to park is ridiculous - even if it is London

The Frei Korps Campaign series on the FPW are good for painting guides if you can find them as are the three volumes from the Outpost series

I like the amount of time they spent on the WotR range. My brother should be turning up on Friday with a couple of packs of the poorer (Welsh)bowmen.

Indeed I shall if all goes to plan

I wonder if there is anyone under 30 on this site. I was wargaming (i.e. not playing with model faeries and robots) at 13. Does that still happen?

Your nephew runs a very successful and well attended school wargames club. A fair bit of warhammer, Star Wars etc but also WW2 planes and boats and they have even played skirmish 'dark ages'
