Thanks for the comments. We were using V59.  We agreed that the tanks could see each other. So all good :)

Civil War Battles / Re: BATTLE DAY 9TH JULY 2022

I will be there with my ever enthusiastic Southern gentlemen.  I can bring terrain if you would like me to.  Not worried about the victory points as I don't defend unless I'm forced to and then I end up attacking.  The only way is forward.  Or as Smiley found out, side ways ;) Regards Colin

PBI / Re: PIAT confusion
March 22, 2022, 09:59:54 PM
Really interesting watch.  Led me onto several other videos including the Panzerschreck.  Interesting if you read accounts such as Major Cain at Arnhem and the effectiveness of him firing a PIAT at 20-30 yards.  What is interesting to consider is the film clip from a Bridge Too Far.  The PIAT shot on the bridge scene could go further but required more elevation on the shot.  Elevating the shot doesn't guarantee a round hitting squarely. Research suggests, placing logs or skirting on the tanks reduces the contact with the actual armour surface and reduces the ability for the round to melt through (not pierce) the armour.  All of this leads me to believe that the variety of variables didn't make the PIAT an ineffective AT weapon but just that to achieve success, you really did need to get close and square on to make it count.  If a PBI square is approx. 60 yards then a one square range is appropriate.  My opinion only :)

PBI / Re: Panzer Grenadier company 1944

I played Mike the other day at Entoyment but did the DAK Panzer Grenadier option against Vet British.  Did not go for the LMG German upgrade to MG34/42 just to test the effectiveness of German LMG's without the extra 2 D6.  As they used armoured half tracks with a mounted LMG it didn't seem to make much of a difference.

Civil War Battles / ACW Battle Day at Entoyment
June 28, 2020, 02:25:37 PM
So although we are not allowed to meet at present I want to start to get geared up for something which might give Pete at Entoyment a real banger of a re-open when gaming can begin.  ACW battle day.  Whose interested?  I am happy to organise a 15mm mega game using Peter Pig Civil War Battles.  If there is enough interest I am happy to organise the day and negotiate with Pete.  At present I am just looking for interest as we do not yet have details of dates etc.  However, I am looking for 4-8 people to run a four/five corps  game.  I can supply one Confederate Corps.  If you are interested then please contact me.  Regards Colin

Civil War Battles / CWB query

So going through the rules in detail for the game at Fisticuffs.  Page 72 example talking about attaching an artillery gun to a foot unit states 'it now shares the shooting box of the brigade but extends its shooting to artillery ranges'.  Does this mean that rifled muskets increase their short range fire to five inches?

Finally sorted my login and read the thread.  I have Germans and British Paras to supply.  Can help with scenery if needed.
