Title: Western rules roll out schedule
Post by: martin goddard on December 16, 2017, 07:40:18 AM
Just a pause to summarise how things are getting along.  Western rules are coming along nicely.  Thanks to the play testers.  I think we are about 63% there?? (possibly 73%).

The areas that might see some "smoothing into elegance" are:-

1. Wordage on things like hammering.
2. 28mm conversion
3. Foot/mounted representation.
4. Pursuit effect (increase)
5. Scenery clarification/simplification.
6. Campaign work
7. Mounted advantage motivation.
8. End of game mechanism.
9.Machine gun
10. Scenery amount
11. Test rivers

It would be good to have western out end of March 2018 if it is ready??   Standard PP format.

That's a useful summary, Martin, thanks - sounds like you're almost there!

Presumably "end of game mechanism" includes possible further tweaking of victory points (although it sounds as though things are now starting to balance up nicely between attacker and defender)?

To get into Western when the rules roll out, how many figures would I need to buy (and paint) per side?  Say Mexicans, Cattle Hands, or Indians?

Happy new year, most forces have 4 or 5 units, from 6-10 bases including leaders and a mixture of mounted and foot units.
I use two figures per base, single for unit leader and group leader.
So,if you start with 4 units of 6 bases you can add more when the rules are published.
Hope that give you some direction.
