Title: Dorchester Club
Post by: DorchesterBede on July 08, 2016, 05:12:30 PM
Probably one of the newest clubs in the Uk - a history that dates back to May 2016.

We meet every second Thursday of the month at:

Dorset Youth Association, Lubbecke Way, Dorchester DT1 1QL

A new club so anything can be played including RFCM. Martin of PP is a supporter of the club and attendee so no arguments over the rules if he can remember what he meant by ..........

If interested the next meeting is Thursday 14 July, given it is the Somme anniversary I'm tempted to have a go at Square Bashing. I can of course be contacted here should you want any further details.

Very appropriate that you meet at the Youth Association.

Dorchester club next meeting is this Thursday 11 August. Martin and Stewart are putting on a couple of Regiment of Foote games so come along and have a go. Alternatively  you can put on another game if you want to, plenty of room for more games (PBI, CWB, BB etc etc).

See you there, any queries then ping me here.

Do you have a website Chris?

Simon

No web site as yet as I'm still trying to grow the club. The old Dorchester Club closed about six years ago when the venue, which had been free, decided to start charging £50 an evening. The town has been club free ever since and the members dispersed and gotten out of the habit of attending a club, you know how much gamers love their comfort zone.

I'll look to set up a facebook site in the future .

Hopefully get a few pictures of the games on Thursday.

Hi Chris,  this might be a good opportunity for an  entry in the Forum competition.  'What its like at a RoF evening?'

Well done Chris on resurrecting the club and good luck for the future . Another idea might be 'setting up a club'.

Please note the next meeting will be Thursday 17 November ( NOT 10 November), the December meet is still 8 December - my balls up re booking the hall I'm afraid.

I am currently looking at next years dates and will publish as soon as I have them confirmed.

The next meeting is this Wednesday 19 May from 1800hrs. Hopefully there will be at least four games running with Stewart and Martin trying out one of the Cambrai scenarios and Mike and Duncan putting the finishing touches to their ROF  siege of Plymouth game (being put on for fisticuffs ) plus a couple of ancients games (ADLG & Swordpoint).

This months meeting is also the one year anniversary of the club so it is good to see it gradually growing and almost breaking even. I have booked the hall for another six months:

Wednesday   19 July
Wednesday 16 August
Wednesday 20 September
Wednesday 4 October (yes the 4 October)
Wednesday 15 November
Wednesday 20 December

Martin the author of the RFCM rules is normally in attendance (although I think in the USA for the July meeting) so if you are in the area please drop in. Details are also on the Peter Pig web site. Tea and coffee provided and friendly atmosphere - even when Stewart throws seven sixes (grrrr).

Happy gaming.

Chris congratulations on running the club into its second year.
Its so difficult to get people out to meeting these days.

You need to prod Martin into action on the web site only two meetings listed!!

Les

In Martin's defense I have only just finalised  the dates for the next six months. As for Historicon always nice of the guys to build the convention around the clubs dates so as to minimise the inconvenience.

Yes Martin has suggested on TMP that  Historicon should be in Weymouth so as to minimise disruption to local clubs
