Title: SOA battleday 2025
Post by: martin goddard on March 30, 2026, 09:37:03 AM
I thought it a great day out.
The battles proceeded nicely with players knowing what to do.

The day started with a talk about Cunaxa. I messed some of the talk as there were a lot of "coughers", plus random folk wandering in with bags of troops. The talk was fine.

We played 4 battles spread between 2 tables.
I think we had a draw a rebel , a royal win and another result (fill in here please)??

The day ended at about 3.30 with prizes and announcement of next year's battle. That being Bannockburn. More to follow.

We should congratulate ourselves on the mustering (painting and assembling)  of troops, the understanding of rules and skilful generalship (including the making of general figures). Extra mention to thank Miles for making all the rivers.
Additional big thanks to Chris for lending us his large Persian army.

A lovely day well spent.

I must everyone as it was a good day out. Winning as the Rebels and changing history on the first game was good. Also a 2 point draw over the Rebels was a good result on the Second game after a mad Assault at the end was a good result too, otherwise we would have lost. So a big thank you to Weymouth Mike as my Partner for the day. Also some good (lucky) dice rolls 6-7-8 and 9 results on assaults to reveal Stewart, 7 out of 8 at the end after the re roll was very well received! Must admit I did get that type of throw a few times !
A good day out.

I'd like to thank Nigel for his phenomenal dice-throwing when I was on his side in our Game 1, when the Royal Army smashed the rebel upstarts.

Less said about the second game, when I was against Nigel and the rebels lost their left flank, the better!
