Title: Duncans pictures
Post by: martin goddard on August 22, 2017, 04:52:37 PM
Duncan had made some nice/super scenery for te western period. He has made a  12x6 station with train etc. Pictures on the "x" on PP website.   Duncan may pop by and give more detail.  All nice.

And very nice they are too. I particularly liked the "clutter" and the way that the trees added another dimension to the station ensmble.

@Duncan: when you do pop by, is there a story behind the numbering on the train?

The number on the. Train is not relevant, it is just what I had available in my transfer box. Didn't really matter as the numbers on the wagons and other lettering is as you can see freehand. It is a bit wobbly!
The lettering CDCM is my family's first name initials, that is C (Conny, my spouse.) D (Me, Duncan.) and CM (Our two boys Corky the eldest and Monty his younger brother.) Do you see, CDCM.
The locomotive is called Corky, after the eldest boy. I do intend to get another one and call it Monty. I have ambitions to have a passenger train of a couple of coaches and a brake van and a goods train of flat cars with a box car and brake van, maybe for moving artillery? Could be a target for someone to attack! I am mindful that these trains were not that powerful so could not pull massive amounts of wagons; not like the later ones.
My next bit of the project will be a road section intersecting the train. Line (or dirt track anyway.) With the water tower and a Switchman cottage for which I am going to use the small ranch/farm house.
After that I have the rest of the town to do. I will send photos to Martin when I have done them.
As for the scatter, I am also building an OO railway in amongst all my wargaming projects compile lots of scatter. It looks much more scenic than just plonking down a station building on a blank rectangle. I know not everyone is going to like it as many of the group are fond of picking buildings up and moving them about to fit their soldiers in the square.

Ah ha - I felt sure that there must be a story behind "CDCM" - many thanks for sharing.

Looking forward to seeing the next instalment of your project - best of luck!

In case you are also wondering, (for some reason I can't see the photos Martin put up so not sure which ones he shared?) the name of the station of 'Dootsvillas' is a tip to my spouse and her later. His house in Browsing is called 'Villa Indah Permai' (no idea what that means.) And when I met my wife all her friends and family said I was Mega Undut which apparently means I resemble a GW Ogres Kingdom figure in the flesh, which given that I am tall, fat and ugly probably is about right. Anyway to cut the story short as i was the Mega Undut my spouse became known as the little doot, or just simply Doot. Hence Dootsvillas as the name of the station and town. Hope that is clear? After all I am naming the locomotives after the boys.

This is the link for any RFCM pictures that I am hosting. Just so people know how to find it; go to the bottom of the PP home page. There is a matrix of coloured boxes listing shows, painter etc.  The BOTOM right hand box has a small letter "x" in it. Click on this and you will get to the photo hosting page. If anyone forgets do ask me again.

Thanks Martin, that is where I looked. It is OK NOW but gremlins obviously got into my computer last night.

I observe that you put some of the Zulu stuff up as well. Thank you.
