Title: TCR about done

TCR is about done.
I will go away now and do pictures etc. Simon will give it a look over and off we go.

Thanks Martin. Simon has a non-work week next week, so that would be good timing :)

Hi Martin, around a week or so ago I dropped you a quick email (to the PPig email address I think) with a couple of last-minute comments about TCR - did you ever get to see the message? If you did, but have just been too busy to respond then that's fine - but I was just concerned that it might have disappeared into the aether... ;)

Hello Jon
Sorry for not replying, bad manners on my part. whoops, sorry.

Your concern was about a triple giving an aim and not a  hit.

Only doubles create hits.
A triple feels good but has not achieved being a double.

This is intended to preserve the rule simplicity. ie a double is a hit. Anything else is not a hit. There are no partial or almost hits.

This also means that 5 same scores create a hit and an aim rather than two hits and a spare score. This is in the rules for clarity.
6 same scores is three hits.

If triples are included too many hits would be created for the desired amount of outcomes.

Thanks Martin - don't worry about not getting round to replying, we're all busy (!) - I was more worried that maybe it hadn't got to you.

The explanation is appreciated, it still just feels counter-intuitive for me - but if the number crunching says that is the way it should be, then who am I to argue?  ;)

The only reason I brought it up was that originally I had thought I was probably the only one bugged by it, until a new player raised exactly the same point - that's when I thought I had better at least mention it.  ;D  ;D  ;D

You are not alone Jon.
A few people have wanted the triple to count as a  double.

I understand their logic of "I got more than I needed". However, they need to understand that a double is the needed outcome.

Maybe they could consider an analogy  along the lines of salt in food?
Add 1/2 teaspoon of salt to this recipe.
"Surely the more salt I put on the better?"

OR
The mortar target is 300m away. "if I shoot at 400m that is even better than 300m".

 ;D  ;D  ;D

Out of curiosity, what IS the % difference in the number of hits IF you were to count a triple as a "double and a spare"?
My Math-Fu is weak today....   ;D

My counter-analogy of how it FEELS as a player (irrespective of what it does to the numbers) would be:

FIRST LITTLE KID: "I've been given two sweets, and I can eat both of them! Yay! (CrunchCrunchCrunchYumYumYum)..."

SECOND LITTLE KID: "I've been given THREE sweets, but I'm not allowed to eat ANY of them.... (very glum face)"

Anyway, this is a very small hillock that I have no plans to die upon, and even if the only reason is "that's the way I want it to be" then that's just fine!   :D

I will shut up about this now....  ;D

Not a big % difference.
obviously 2D6 no triple possible.
3D6 3%
4D6 10%
5D6 20%

Assuming most shots are 4D6 this would reduce hits by 10%.
That includes opportunity shots too.
