Ben and I are playing a 6x4 600 point game, set in 1941. The valiant Red army are counter attacking the Nazi dogs who dare invade our land! Hoorah!!!
Commissar there will be no retreat.

Brilliant stuff. The game looks great. I've never actually played PBI like this, but now I want to!
A very nice-looking game, Dave & Ben.
Sounds like great fun!
Simon
As the commisar reporting back to Stalin I can write the battle report before your game begins.
Good looking game,
martin :)
.... Attention: Generalissimo of the Soviet Union: Moscow ... Battle Kiev September 1941
Today saw our glorious (Raw) Soviet troops engage in battle with the ragtag (Veteran) Prussian devils just south of Kiev. Wave after wave of our brave comrades threw themselves onto the red hot barrels of the German mg34's without flinching. Our mighty tanks destroyed the German panzers piecemeal with minimal casualties. Mortars laid down heavy supporting fire on the army group centre forcing the enemy to flee, with only minor casualties to our brave soldiers. We stormed their objectives without a care for our own safety or regard for our own lives. The weight of German fire did force a minor bulge in our lines, steadied of course by our mighty commissars! The Soviet Union won a great victory this day, even if it was a draw.

Interesting. I've often thought how to extend PBI to a bigger game but not tried it.
How do you manage objectives? Do you add a 4th? What about placement?
Do you increase the countdown from 36?
What about on and off table units?
I'm interested to learn what adjustments you make.
Thanks
Nigel
Hi Nigel
We added a 4th objective, making two in row 4. One objective goes in row 3 and another in row 5. No countdown stays as it is, game is about 1.5 hours longer, but we were not rushing. We had 18 scenery templates, and 30 partials divided evenly as per the ruleset. We allowed two armoured units and two a/t guns in the 600 points. This was an early war games so tanks were not point heavy.
The defender had 3 infantry platoons on table to start, and two tanks, two armour cars, two a/t guns and and infantry platoon off table as these were all veteran units. The defender rolled for the a/t guns at the start but failed.
The attacker had three units off table.
This was as per the piggie chase, but the defender had an extra unit on, and the attacker had an extra unit off.
As we were using vet Germans, and raw Russians we both agreed the Russians would attack, to make the game more interesting and playable.
Assets remained as normal, but you could add a fourth one, as it lacked with three.
We added a second road, but a river or railway could be used.
That was roughly all the changes.
