I have ordered some movement trays from Warbases for my little men to help keep the unit together and keep the footprint of the unit constant with their casualties and 1/2 bases.
Six 5 x 2 for the British, (battle line,2 ranks or 2 base width column
Six 3 x 3 for the Dervish (their group) within the rules
Stewart
Has a playtest version gone out yet?
I think trays would be useful.
Most forces will only have about 4 units.
Unit sizes might increase by a base or two though.
We have only played 2 games so far.
In the coming week there will be 2 more games.
Then I think we can form a playtest group of the "willing".
At the moment, the rules are very fluid. I don't want to impose too much change on play testers until there has been a little "settling".
Under thought at the moment are
1. British firepower. It should be good but not lethal.
2. Needing to retain as much from the existing set as possible in order to allow players to use their stuff.
3. New ideas such as half bases need testing. It is there to allow damage to be inflicted but with the target unit still able to carry on with the game.
4.The opposing 3D6 rolls need more testing. It would be easier to use an AK system but we have space and time to try something new.
5. Jamming. Should be there.
NEXT ideas to be tested.
1. Putting near the unit until the shoot or fight is completed. That will allow such rules as "third casualty causes....". It will also allow players to see an overall effect from the multi stage fight/shoot process.
2. The commander.
3. Defence formations for the Anglo-Egyptians.
4. Artillery and machine guns.
5. Faltering.
I think we will form a PITS group 5th September, just before colours?
martin :)
So how many figures do we need for a British unit please ? How many units ?
As I have a box full of unopened PP packets ?
Miles
Hello Miles
This is a bit rough, but will give an idea of how we might proceed.
Foot bases. 3x3 cm. 3 figures.
Foot command bases. 3x3 or 3x4 with name tab? 2(or 3) figures. No flag. Just officer + NCO or drummer etc.
Commander base (one per player). 4x4 with name tab. Flag for Dervish. Possibly a flag for Anglo Egyptian? Commander on horse(s) if wished.
Units up to 10 bases. Includes a leader/officer base.
Guns/MGs are part of a small unit (4 bases?).
