Ian Kay of Irregular Miniatures has announced the sad news that his father, Ron, has passed away aged 97.
Ron was a stalwart of the show scene, particularly in the north. A friendly face at the Irregular Miniatures stand at shows like Derby and Triples.
He was still casting figures amd helping with packing up until very recently. I spoke to Ian Kay on my podcast and Ron had only recently gone part time with the business, allowing himself a lie in and starting at 10am 🙂
97 is a grand old age, and he will be fondly remembered. Condolences to the family.
I remember him well at shows like Northern Militaire, Phalanx, Colours etc. Always a cheery face on the Irregular stand, from which I have bought a great deal over the last 40 years. Condolences to Ian and family. He will be missed.
Another sad loss to the hobby/industry - my condolences. :(
Like so many others, I remember Ron very well from countless shows over the past decades....
Jon.
Sad news.
The Irregular crew are always a nice bunch of people.
Their stand was a treasure trove, which folk could go through and pick out "gems" .
They are a very hard working trader. They do the shows and they do the post. Marvellous.
I can only find good things to say about them.
martin :(
Amen to that Martin,
Great service over the years from everyone at Irregular. I like to think there's probably some of Ron's castings among my collection and will smile as I paint them and use them.
Neil
I didn't know him or met the gang but always had good serve from Irregular.
All my 6mm Napoleonic and ACW figures are from them

While it's a good age, still very sad.......
Many memories of him at shows.
